One-to-one therapy Β· Ages 3–12

What this looks like in practice

One weekly session with a clinician, and short practice at home on the other days. What separates this from ordinary therapy is not what happens in the clinic β€” it is that the week in between finally counts for something.

Four stages

From the first phone call to the point where you no longer need us.

Intro call

Twenty minutes by phone, at no cost. What concerns you, what nursery or school has said, and what you have already tried. You will finish the call knowing whether there is something here that needs treating β€” including when the answer is no.

Assessment

About ninety minutes: articulation, language and fluency assessment, a basic hearing screen, and structured play. You leave with a written report you can hand to a nursery, a school, or a funding panel.

Plan and practice

We set two or three goals β€” no more. A weekly session in clinic or online, plus short daily tasks at home that the engine builds from those same goals and adjusts as things move.

Review every six weeks

We stop and check honestly: what has shifted, what has not, and whether continuing makes sense. If nothing is moving we change approach or refer on. Therapy that continues out of momentum wastes your money and your child's time.

What is included

  • A weekly 45-minute session β€” in clinic or online
  • A daily practice plan in the app, five to seven minutes a day
  • Automated feedback on pronunciation during practice
  • A weekly summary for parents β€” what improved and where to focus
  • A messaging channel for short questions between sessions
  • Written reports for nursery, school, or funding applications
  • Parent coaching β€” a separate session once a month

Who this suits less well

Better said now than discovered halfway through:

Children under four. Digital practice is not appropriate, and the work should happen through play with an adult leading it.

Complex neurological or syndromic presentations. These need a multidisciplinary team, and we will gladly point you toward the right one.

Families looking for a hands-off solution. Daily practice needs an adult nearby. Five minutes β€” but they do not happen on their own.

Pathways

Cost depends on frequency and scope, and is given in full during the intro call β€” before you commit to anything. No registration fee and no minimum term.

Some health insurers and supplementary plans reimburse part of the cost of speech and language therapy. We are happy to issue receipts and reports in whatever format your insurer requires β€” it is worth confirming your eligibility with them before you start.

Practicalities

In person or online?

Either. The initial assessment is better face to face; after that most families move to a mix, and some to fully online. Younger children generally benefit from being in the room at the start.

What if my child refuses to practise?

It happens, and it usually means the tasks are too hard or too long. We can see that in the practice data and shorten them before it turns into a battle. That is part of the work, not a failure on your part.

How long does it take?

A single articulation difficulty is often weeks to a few months. A broad language delay takes longer. Every six-week review gives you an updated estimate rather than a promise made on day one.

Cancellations

Free up to 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged in full, illness excepted.

We are not local β€” is that workable?

Yes, on the remote pathway. Daily practice is identical wherever you are, and so are the summaries. The initial assessment can be done online where there is no alternative.

Not sure therapy is needed at all?

That is exactly why the intro call is free. Better to hear "give it another six months" from a clinician than to be searching the internet at two in the morning.
